Our Commitment to Privacy
Our Commitment to Privacy At Crest Consultants we consider confidentiality to be a cornerstone of the services we offer and, therefore, the protection of personal information is of the utmost importance. Our aim is to collect, use and disclose information with due respect and in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Alberta Personal Information Policy Act (PIPA) and other relevant legislation. Any personal information entrusted to us will be used exclusively for business purposes in agreement with our service mandate. The information we collect includes the information required to:
  • -Create and manage a personal data file
  • -Assess a candidate's suitability for job openings
  • -Contact candidates about relevant opportunities in the job market
  • -Present an accurate candidate profile to our clients in order to evaluate a candidates fit with a particular employment opportunity
How Do We Collect Personal Employee Information?
Personal information is defined as: any personal information reasonably required by an organization that is collected, used or disclosed solely for the purposes of establishing an employment relationship. It does not include personal information about the individual unrelated to that relationship. At Crest Consultants, we collect relevant personal employee information in order to provide services to our candidates and clients. This personal employee information is collected from a wide variety of sources through fair and legitimate means. The first source of information is you. Though the provision of a resume candidates supply Crest Consultant with details such as their name, contact details, address, education, skill set, work history and experience. Further, interviews with candidates provide us with additional details concerning their personalities, goals, desires and needs. Finally, additional sources of personal information may include third party opinions obtained through reference checks and background investigations. It is important to note that the system for collecting information detailed above is not a definitive and exclusive statement, but rather a general guideline set out by Crest Consultants. When necessary, Crest Consultants may also obtain information by other means authorized by applicable legislation.
Safeguarding Personal Information
Crest Consultants protects personal employee information provided by clients, candidates and employees through the implementation of the following safeguards:
  • -Hard copies of information are stored in locked cabinets or secure storage areas in our office
  • -Documents containing personal information are shredded prior to disposal
  • -Electronic data is password protected and accessible only to authorized employees of Crest Consultants
  • -All staff are bound by a confidentiality agreement and
  • -Information is retained only for as long as is necessary to satisfy the business or legal requirements of the candidate and client.
When and to whom does Crest Consultants disclose personal employee information?
At Crest Consultants personal employee information is never sold, traded or passed on to other organizations or individuals. Personal employee information is disclosed exclusively for legitimate business purposes or as required to meet legal or regulatory requirements.

Crest Consultants may disclose, with permission, a candidate's personal employee information to a client when we believe there is potential for a suitable placement. Personal employee information disclosed to a client may include, but is not limited to, a copy of the candidate's resume, a summary of relevant information gathered directly from the candidate or through reference and background checks.
Consent
The collection, use, and disclosure of personal employee information are governed primarily by your express consent. Express consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information can be obtained in two ways: verbally (either in person or over the telephone) or in writing (in faxes, e-mails, other written correspondences, or by signing a consent form). Implied consent may also be assumed when an individual volunteers information for the use of Crest Consultants. You may withdraw consent for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information at any time, except when the disclosure of said information is required by law. If you choose to withdraw your consent, then you must provide written notice to Crest Consultants. Crest Consultants is committed to respecting your decision, however, may be unable to provide services that depend on the provision of personal information.
Access to Records Containing Personal Information
An individual may access their personal information in the custody or under the control of Crest Consultants. Also, an individual may request the correction of errors or omissions in said personal information. All requests will be treated in accordance with the guidelines established by PIPA. Please make requests to access or correct your personal information in writing to: Crest Consultants 1200, 707 - 7th Avenue SW Calgary, Alberta T2P 3H6 All requests must include sufficient detail to permit the identification of the personal information being sought. Crest Consultants will only release information once it is satisfied that the person requesting the information is legally entitled to it.
